Wild and Rainy Weekend with Collie Update

3 Oct

Hey everyone Holly did great in the Army Ten Miler, lengthened to 11.5 miles. Read her post click here.

Friday was the regular weekday ride of 25 miles. I was uneventful or so I thought until Sunday when the guard at the gate stopped Tony and I on the way out for our LSD ride. Apparently someone complained (Coffee Drinker) that we are riding to fast thru the community. The complaint was that we scared his dog! Kewl!

Saturday was a lsd run. The humidity was down but the sun was still bright. I did my long route thru the woods but at the 6 mile mark it hit me! Diarrhea! When you gota go, you gota go…so fortunately I was near the fitness center and was able to stop in there! That hasn’t happened to me in a long time. After a brief stop I was able to finish out my 15 miles.

Sunday was a lsd ride with Tony. We did the Coconut Point Ride with a stop at the Pelican Bay to watch for dolphins. None were seen! On the way to Pelican Landing, Tony and I saw a peleton on 8 cyclist going the other way. I was surprised that there were that many active cyclists around. On the way back we had a strong headwind. We each took turns pulling but it was a hard trip. After 40 miles my legs were tired.

Both days, Saturday and Sunday I wanted to go to the beach to swim. But at 2:00 pm the sky clouded up and a thunderstorm moved thru the area lasting until dusk. It seems we are experiencing rainy season in the fall this year. Go figure.

Today I didn’t have my normal run, it was Doctor’s day. I had two more somethings removed to send for biospy. This also means no swimming for a couple of days. UGH! They also found I have another tumor growing on my left flank over where my left kidney should be but fortunately I don’t have a left kidney., so I have room for the tumor. So I’m going to have to set up an appointment with my surgeon. I wonder if I get a frequently surgery discount? Or surgery miles?

sheesh. maybe he should take on some of the responsibility. like keeping his dog out of the street? or paying attention when he’s out in the street, too?you could get an airhorn and blow it to let him know you’re coming. then again, that’d probably startle him and make him spill his coffee…

Poor collie guy! It must be tough to watch your dog while it’s outside. Boohoo. I bet the dog would go after you regardless of speed.

And, if you slow down, who’s to say he wouldn’t bite you (the dog). I say pepper spray him (and his little dog too…)!I’m kidding…Hoping the doc has good news for you!

My husband actually got a ticket while on his bike once – failing to stop at the sign . . . where vehicle was it said “bike”. I don’t think I’ve ever laughed so hard.Maybe it’s not a tumor, maybe you are growing a new kidney : ) and won’t need surgery. Hope the Dr’s visit goes well.

I like the airhorn idea. Hope all goes well with the biospy and your frequent surgery discount!

Will be thinking of you. Hope things go well at the Doc’s. Usually people don’t refer to their own parts as “flanks”. You crack me up.Tell all this cancer crap to BACK OFF.

your base level training during this rough patch is sure motivating to me. I think about the little ole 12 I am doing as my long run today and here you are five times my age (at least) running 15 miles with runs.Your getting my Hardcore award of the week
