Al Grotinno

16 Jul

We went to dinner in downtown Sacrofano last nite. The place is one of my favorite restaurants, Al Grottino known for it’s cooking technique. They grill over wood coals!

As we arrived we were warmly greeted by the owners. The table was set for us with two bottles of wine and two bottles water. Next the food started coming! First was beans, bruschetta with olive tapenade, and bruschetta with tomatoes.

As we began eating, more food came! A meat platter, snails in a red sauce, and boar ribs.

I didn’t get a picture of everything! The snails had a faint taste of mint in the sauce.

All the cooking is done over coals. There are two open wood ovens that you see as you enter the resurant.

I hope you are not full yet, there’s more coming.

Next up was the pasta course.

Angel hair pasta with mushrooms, tagliatelle with wild boar, ricotta ravioli with a lemon cream sauce and gnocchi with a tomato sauce.

I hope you are not full. I certainly was finished. But I had to try the grilled portabella mushrooms. They tasted Iike steak.

Lastly there was coffee, espresso and almond cookies. I was to full to take a picture but herein the view from our table.

I learned it is it a good idea to have espresso at 11:30 pm but it was a great dinner. I would highly recommend Al Grottino.
