Full Day In Roma

1 Aug

When you sign up for a tour perhaps you expect a slow place walk through a museum or sightseeing. In reality being on a guided tour with 40 other people can be very demanding, especially for someone as old as me!

The day started started with a 6:45 breakfast! Next we left the hotel at 7:25 to go to the Vatican Museum and the Sistine Chapel.

We bypassed the lines and entered immediately. As we walk though the museum, our local guide pointed out various pieces of art and briefly explained them to us.

We climbed the spiral staircase which offered spectacular views of the Vatican, including the hotel where the current Pope lives. (He would have had us in for a cappuccino but he was at his summer home.)

We were not allowed to take any pictures including iPhone pictures, in the Sistine Chaple. Suffice it to say the ceiling looks a lot like the one in our dinning room. Spectacular!

Next, it was onto St. Peter’s Cathedral and the famous Pieta.

After viewing the square, it was time for lunch.

Next up A Roman Afternoon. The Coliseum, the Capitoline and the Roman Forum.
