Be My Guest Dinner – Sorrento

3 Aug

Trafalgar Tours does Be My Guest Dinners where a local hosts everyone for a fabulous dinner of local food and delicacies. In Sorrento our host was Richardo owner of Latravola di Lvcvllo.

The dinner started with a plate of cured meats, a basket of fresh baked bread and of course, vino!

Next up, since Sorrento is a town along the Adriatic Sea, bowls of mussels.

I hope your hungry, as the dinner has just started.

Next was fried sardines. It kind of reminded me of fried smelt.

Not everyone liked the sardines, I think they couldn’t get past the thought of sardines in a can. But never fear, there was more food to come. Pizza!

Along with the pizza came warm, fresh from the oven, focaccia!

Next was the main course, fish or ravioli. Joanne and I choose ravioli but most people had fish. I was late taking the next picture and ate most of my ravioli but I shot the picture anyway.

The dinner also included local entertainment, a DJ, dancers and a surprise guest, a local singer song writer who sat down at the piano and entertained us late into the night.

But wait, there is more food, dessert! Lemon cake, since the region is famous for lemons, and limoncello! Of course espresso.

Finally one of the members of our tour ended the evening festivities by singing for us. What a great voice for a young 18 year old.

It was another late night. Next up a long ride to Assisi.
